Wonder What the Savvy Project Manager's Most Important Tool Is?
CRM of course!

By Amy Villasana-Moore, CPSM | March 2018
The fine art of the built environment has been a topic of great interest since ancient times. Structures like the Egyptian Pyramids and the Mayan Temples never seem to wear thin on intrigue, which can explain why people see the final product as the main attraction in the A/E/C arena. Everyone does it; even Project Managers. However, savvy Project Managers realize that they are executing more than the structure; they are also building relationships.

Today’s Project Manager has a few more clients than just the one King and his pyramid. But that doesn’t mean that their clients shouldn’t get the royal treatment. That’s why a CRM system is quickly becoming one of the most important tools in the modern builder’s toolkit.

Companies Using Cosential
As many of our clients can attest, Cosential’s Dashboard makes the perfect home for optimizing the user’s time, reducing clicks and increasing efficiency. Although Dashboards are fully customizable based on each user’s preference, there are several key widgets CKearney Consulting recommends loading in order to stay up to date with clients:
  • Shortcuts: Enable icons for New Call, New Task and Opportunity Grid creating quick and easy access
  • My Reports: Fast access to frequently run reports without leaving the homepage
  • Recently Viewed: Circumvent Quick Search and reference your last viewed items instantly
  • Opportunity Pipeline: View which pursuits are pending, submitted, won or lost
  • Opportunity Summary: View hit rates, pipeline size and what pursuits were created
  • Top Deals: See the Top 10 Deals within the firm and customize how you see them

Companies Using Other CRMs
Whether you’re using Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics or another one of the many CRM options available, using a CRM system is more than keeping track of contacts and proposals. One of the best things you can do as a CRM user is focus on the features that help you work more efficiently. You should also have the following information on-hand should you have questions:
  • Name and contact information of your CRM Administrator or internal CRM Champion
  • Name and contact information of your CRM Consultant (if utilized)
  • Implementation materials and/or training guides
  • Link to the CRM Support Center or to live chat with a support representative
  • Link to the CRM Video Library (if available)

Companies without a CRM
Still managing contacts in Outlook and pipeline in Excel? If so, you don’t have to wait for someone else to have the “big epiphany”. Start the dialogue today with the right people in leadership sharing the benefits of a CRM system. You can also contact CKearney Consulting to discuss a CRM Evaluation for your firm. In the meantime, here are some of the key reasons to have a CRM system:
  • Central Information Platform
  • System Integrations and Data Accuracy
  • Analytics
  • Sales and Marketing Activity Tracking and Informational Organization
  • Proposal Automation
  • Enhanced Communication and Transparency
  • Greater Efficiency and Time-Savings
